I am Uhtred, Lord of Bebbanburg

Yes! British people!

Dark Age  really catch my eye, and I always want to do a Anglo-Saxon army.

Until recently this was not possible because:

  1. WAB was the system that everyone played… and it was boring as hell!
  2. Only metal miniatures available;
  3. WAB = Huge armies = way out of my budget.

And then it came… SÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁÁGAAA!

SAGA. 🙂

SAGA is a historical miniatures game produced by Gripping Beast and written by Tomahawk Studios wherein you play one of the various factions questing for glory and conquest in Dark Ages Britain: Vikings, Anglo-Danes, Normans, and Welsh. They’ve published two supplements:

  •  Northern Fury, which introduce the Anglo-Saxons, the Breton, the Scots, and the Jomsvikings.
  • The Raven’s Shadow, which introduce the  Franks, Irish, Norse Gael & Strathclyde Welsh.

Inspired by the Saxon Stories of  Bernard Cornwell, where Uhtred, known as born in Northumbria, but captured and adopted by the Danes,  and later Shield of Wessex and Sword of West-Saxons, protecting the Saxon Kingdoms against the Danish invasion, I decided to invest in a small Anglo-Saxon Saga Warband.

Pick up the GP Anglo Saxon 4pts starter set, a GP plastic box of Saxon Thegn and a couple of Westwind Productions archers and Saxon Command…and where we got! A small Saga Warband…

… 2 pts of Hearthguard, 6 pts of Warriors and 3 pts of Levy! Of course the Westwind Productions blister give me a Uhtherd Warlord and  the plastics thegns box was used to build Ælfrēd, King of Wessex!

…this was supposed to be a small army! What the **** did happen here??…hum…I need some mounted Heartguard and Warlord…

Finally the WIP.

Sorry for my lake of painting skills and photography!

More to come!

Tale of Two Gamers – The beginning

Welcome ladies and gentlemen, girls and boys.

I am here with the purpose of informing you that I and Estica are going to develop in the following weeks a grand and magnificent project.

We are going to start a grand Tale of Two Gamers (TO2G). And this because Estica, that is a true animal, wants to go to 40Korvos (a big tournament) and does not have anything assembled and painted for his wolfies army…the ones with the big armour, those that stand guard…(for those that are more inattentive or doesn’t understand nothing of W40K, I am referring to the Space Wolves (SW) terminators!).

The idea of the Project is to prepare 250pts for the army every week, and with this I’m referring to fully assembled and painted models, ready for tournament. By the way you get to know that the tournament will be held in the weekend of 24 and 25 of November of 2012.

We are talking of 7 weeks, and if everything goes well in the end we will have a 1750pts army. And astonish your selves. Those are the points that are required for the tournament games. Right in the spot.

To start we get a good timing, what sounds promising and auspicious. Let’s hope everything goes fine.

So every 15 days (on Mondays) we will have a clash between our forces (Estica with SW and I with the natty Grey Knights (GK)) in order to re-learn the rules and fully understand our armies.

To conclude it will be published weekly a state of play about the development of our armies and every 2 weeks we will (try to) publish a battle report.

In order to give a certain flavor to the Project each one of us will write the part of the report referring to his army. And the battle report of the clash will be held by the one that is near (Volunteers!?!?!).

In this first post each one will write a resume of what are his intentions, as well as a description of the army that wants to build.

With this promises i say farewell, with the hope that our viewers enjoy the charming spectacle that we will held just for you.

Um grande abraço. Cheers.

As a way of keeping me motivated for the construction and painting of my Space Wolves great company secondary project, I decided to take a Loganwing to 40 Korvos (Portuguese 40k Big Tournament).

For those unaware, this type of army consists only in the use of Space Marine Terminators, which makes it a terribly short army. The name is a derivation of the Dark Angels Chapter, 1st Company, called the Deathwing, and as one can only field this army paying for Logan Grimnar, so the name Loganwing was adopted (there is a Imperial Fists Lysanderwing, and a Gay Knights Draigowing).

The fact that the list is very short has two very positive aspects. The 1st is that transportation will be very easy with a small matchbox. The 2nd is that I will name all the Infantry models, and create small Sagas for them.

This said, I’ve also put much thought about this list, coming to this final version:

HQ:

Logan Grimnar – 275 points

Rune Priest in terminator armor w / Combi Melta, Rune weapon, powers (JotWW and Murderous Hurricane-Not master of runes) – 125 points

Elites:

Lone Wolf with Terminator Armour, Chainfist, Storm Shield and 2 Fenrisian Wolves – 105 points

Troops:

Pack Wolf Guard Terminators with 6 (1x Heavy Flamer + Frost Blade, Storm Shield + 2x ThunderHammer, 2x pair of Wolf Claws, 1x Storm Shield ChainFist +) -333 points

Wolf Guard Pack with 5 Terminators (2x Storm Bolter + Power Weapon, Combi plasma + 1x Power Weapon, Storm Bolter 1x Power Weapon + + Cyclone Missile Launcher, 1x Storm Bolter + Power Fist) – 210 points

Wolf Guard Pack with 5 Terminators (2x Storm Bolter + Power Weapon, Combi plasma + 1x Power Weapon, Storm Bolter 1x Power Weapon  + Cyclone Missile Launcher, 1x Storm Bolter + Power Fist) – 210 points

Heavy Support:

1 Land Raider Crusader with MultiMelta – 260 points

Vindicator 1 – 115 points

Vindicator 1 – 115 points

This makes for a total of 1748 points, having failed to find where to spend the remaining 2 points.

Now getting to the point, presenting the miniatures. After preparing the models, I stand at a point where I have mounted the Terminators bodies (not counting Logan Grimnar, or the Rune Priest), I have assembled the vindicators, and the Land Raider Crusader is still on sprue.

Logan Grimnar:

Rune Priest (a conversion of the plastic Lord of Chaos that is still being worked on) – I chose this particular model for my Rune Priest because it has an already feral look, very  typical of the Space Wolves. Also because the torso symbols are very similar to the librarian ones, making him a perfect choice. I’ve glued a symbol (design for the vheicles) from the old sprue on the left leg to hide the chaotic motifs and on the right leg I will sculpt some pelts, or maybe something with runes. The staff will also be converted with a wolf skull the comes with the space wolves power armor kit:

Now coming to the core of the army, my Terminators – The only weapons already glued are the 2 Cyclone Missile Launcher (CML), all the others are still waiting for me to clean the arms mold line:

The front line (7 Terminators) and 1 back-row terminator won’t be included in this project, and appear only because I’ve decided to assemble all my terminators. In the future they will help me experiment new builds and equipment variants when fielding traditional with Space Wolves lists.

With each new update I’ll also make some comments on each unit expected role on the battlefield.

The vehicles pics are not yet available, but they will debut in the next Update.
______________________________________________

I am having a little of trouble deciding which list I should build. As I’m not going to tournament I would like to build a list strong enough for Estica’s army battle against, and which must have the minimum models to paint.

So I decided to go for an all GK Terminator army and with some mechanized friends. So for now I am going to use the following units for my 500pts army:

HQ:

Librarian with a nemesis force halberd, and the following powers: Might of Titan and Warp Rift. This model going for a symbolic 165pts!

TROOP:

5 terminators with a mix of weapons – 3 with nemesis force halberd, 1 with nemesis force sword and 1 with Nemesis Thunder Hammer – 200pts

HEAVY SUPPORT:

Dreadnought with 2 twin-linked autocannon and with psybolt ammunition – 135pts.

So this is 500pts square. Nice!

For the first week I am going to work in the Librarian and the Dreadnought – 300pts. A little bit above what it is required, but I think it won’t be a problem! They’re just two models!

So this is how the work is going:

Librarian:

Terminators:

Dreadnought:

As I am having the models finished I will also create a history for each one of them! As Estica said they are so few that I can manage to build some kind of personality in each one of them!

About my plans for the rest of the weeks I will decide them as they are going! 😉

Once again into the breach

Another day and another battle the mercenary command Caroligian Guards must win. This time a relief mission brought them to clash against Clan Ghost Bear forces in a relief mission. First part of the battle plan, to clear the zone near the LZ of hostile elements. A Garrison Binary is in the vicinity and must be dealt with. After only 20 seconds into the battle and already a Goliath is turned to scrap, along with a Baboon and a Snow Fox from the Ghost bears Recon Star. From the Fire Star the Blood Asp is down but not yet out of the fight.

In the wings of glory

It was the year of our Lord 1917. It was a lovely month of July, not too hot, neither too cold. The perfect weather for a walk along the Senna shore. But Europe was being swept by war like it never knew.

“Of course, aren’t they all?!” It was the idea that crossed 2nd Lieutenant Gerald William Ferguson mind, moments after received the Intel of a mission “top priority” and “top secret” from a courier of the Royal Flying Corps (RFC) 16Squadron. He drunk the rest of the champagne that was in the flûte, turned is eyes to the awesome and beautiful Parisian girl that was with him, smiled and said:

– Life is hard and the future doesn’t belong to us…

Which got the following reply from her:

– Mon Cher, you don’t need to say nothing more. I know perfectly what you are thinking of. Let´s kill this bottle of gods nectar and go up to the hotel´s room, all this flirting is making me dire tired…

(But what the deuce! What were you thinking of? That this was going to be a soap opera? What about getting a life? Let’s go on with the description of the game of Wings of War that occurred in “the gruta” the last 16 of September of 2012I).

The wind was blowing through the poppies (papaver rhoeas) fields, the red of their petals was contrasting with the greener and darker colours in the surroundings. Harvest time. Flight Sub-Lieutenant Aubrey Beauclerk Ellwood was observing the scenery while remembering a pleasant afternoon in Tatiana’s company, behind the gazebo of the borough where he grew. He was so immersed with his inner thoughts that he was not aware of the black car that was approaching.

From it two distinctive figures came out of the car, one tall and broad, the other short and pot bellied. It was the sound of the car doors closing that brought Ellwood to the reality. The moment his gaze was on the figures he realized that life wasn’t going to smile back at him! “Certainly another stupid mission”.

Little time has passed since the lunch hour in the advanced airfield. 30 km separated the pilot’s barracks from the muddy trenches where the “poor bastards” of the infantry men were having the “hard times”.

2nd Lieutenant Ferguson, his observer, 2nd Class Air Mechanic Fry, and Flight Sub-Lieutenant Ellwood had finish their “top secret” and “extreme priority” mission briefing. The target was in the following coordinates: N 39º 17′ 17.63”, W 8º 44′ 23.86”. It was a factory that processed wastes from the swine industry, turned into a chemical weapons plant. Weapons that were beginning to tilt the balance to the central powers.

Are you all mad? Do you think that our two airplanes will be enough to clean up that midden?” 2nd Lieutenant Ferguson shouted. “Do you at least know what is near those coordinates?”. It was the lair of Rittmeister Manfred Von Richthofen and his new Fokker DR.1. An airplane that was in the process of acceptation into the forces of the Luftstreitkräfte, but it was one that had already proven it valour and it superiority in face of most of the airplanes that RFC and the rest of the air forces of the “entente” had at their disposal.

To join the party, the Bloody April it hadn’t been nice to the squadrons of the RFC, leading them to a level of readiness below the acceptable.

The tallest man answered him to keep calm because the situation was under control and preparations had been taken to counter all the possibilities. Support was asked to the 65e Escadrille from the Aéronautique Militaire, and they had sent nothing less than the future ace, Sous Lieutenant Charles Nungesser with the superb, yet underrated, Nieuport 17

With the attack force assembled:

The battle plan was revealed:

_____________________________________________________________

The walls were covered with posters appealing to the national union, patriotism and to the sacrifice for the Kaiser. The day wasn’t turning out to be a good one. Although the sun was beginning to appear from behind the hills, the weather was damp, the sky was overcast and the mourning dew wasn’t making it any better.

The young telegraph operator was cursing his life when his machine burst into life. After receiving the entire message he ran his eyes through it. “Another meaningless message”, he thought, “don’t those bastards have anything better to do than to make my life a living hell?” Reluctant, he gets up and heads towards the communications officer to deliver the message.

When did you receive this?”, the officer asks him. “Just now, sir”, the young telegraph operator promptly responds. It was a coded message with information about an attack the Allied forces were about to launch in the early morning hours on that same day.

The sirens loud cry made leutnant Werner Voss get up heavily from the comfortable chair where he was resting after a well spent night in the pilots lounge. “It feels like I got run over by a truck”, he thought as he drank a glass of water to clear his head. He put on his flight jacket, headed outside and disappeared in the morning mist.

They’ll be aproaching from our 2 o’clock” Von Richthofen was saying. The estimated time of arrival of the enemy aircraft was drawing near. The mechanics had been alerted and the german planes were ready.

They’re going down in flames”, boasted Oberleutnant Ernst Udet as he picked up his flight goggles and took a sip from a bottle of schnapps that was on the table. “It’s just to keep the joints warm, like my grandmother used to say” he anwsered when faced with the inquisitive look in the Red Barons face.

They took up their flight gear  and left the building towards the waiting aircraft with the stance and look of the hunters they were.

Leutnant Voss joined them along the way. He was a mess and was dinking profusely from a bottle of water.

I’m guessing you don’t give a damn about the plan details, right?” said Oberleutnant Udet. Voss just shook his head. He was a young pilot that already counted 34 confirmed kill al the controls of his fabulous Albatros D.III.

The three planes were aligned near the runway. Their mission was one of life or death. The Factory was to be defended to the death.

_____________________________________________________________

The German planes begin the game near the Factory, the Albatros D.III of Leutnant Werner Voss and the Albatros D.Va of Oberleutnant Ernst Udet where on the left flank while the Fokker DR.1 of Baron Manfred Von Richthofen defended alone the right flank. His reputation forced him to take that place.

The Entente pilots aboard their infernal machines got to the sky with the Nieuport 17 of Sous Lieutenant Charles Nungesseron on the left, the Sopwith Camel of Flight Sub-Lieutenant Aubrey Beauclerk Ellwood in the center and the RAF Bomber RE 8 of 2nd Lieutenant Gerald William Ferguson and Air Mechanic 2nd Class Fry on the right, this last one loaded with the precious explosive charges meant to successfully accomplish the mission – the destruction of the Factory.

_____________________________________________________________

The overcast sky was suffering with the passage of aircraft preparing for a crucial clash that could significantly alter the course of the conflict that ravaged Europe.

The German aircrafts traveled with the maximum possible speed across the left flank in order to cut off the passage of the dangerous bomber approaching its objective. This seeing the coming danger of the enemy aircraft, got closer to the friendly fighters looking for the support of the comrades in arms.

While these movements ocurred, the Red Baron positioned the triplane in order to account for a new victim to his string of victories. “Well, at worst I’ll turn to the right and cut the passage to the bomber and support the attack of these two green flyers” was the toughs of Von Richthofen coming closer to the enemy aircraft.

_____________________________________________________________

Flight Sub-Lieutenant Ellwood observed the maneuvers of the opponents and positioned his old Camel in order to cross the path of the Red Baron and try his luck nailing the triplane with lead. “Ah Ah!! Let them see how I’ll get that Crimson Baron!“, Ellwood dreamed while priming the trigger of his twin synchronized Vickers guns, inflicting 3 damage to the structure and engine, of the already weakened (8 points of damage ) red triplane.

I can’t believe this guy is coming at me like that!!” thought Von Richthofen as he prepared for another bold and risky maneuver that was his hallmark.

_____________________________________________________________

The German maneuvers brought them to very favorable positions, enabling them to carry out a deadly attack against the sluggish English bomber.

Voss’ Albatros assumed a predatory stance against its main target – the RAF RE 8 – while Udet and von Rich circled around to trap their prey.

Meanwhile, Sous Lieutenant Charles Nungesser on his brand new Nieuport 17 darted through the bloody battle like a sparrow through a cloud of gnats – certainly his objective was to test the machine and not to get entangled in boring attrition fights!

Ellwood pushed his machine too far and missed the chance to finish what he had started – shoot down the Baron!

_____________________________________________________________

Realizing their prey was such an easy target, Oberleutnant Udet and Baron opened fire with their Maschinengewehr 08.

and managed to shoot down in a single swoop the biggest threat to their lifes.

At the same time, 2nd Lieutenant Ferguson tried his luck and managed to do what Flight Sub-Lieutenant Ellwood could not: shoot at Rittmeister Manfred von Richthofen. However, he was unable to get a clear shot and managed only to strike a single damage point out of the afflicted triplane.

_____________________________________________________________

The German pilots had succeeded in their mission: to protect their dear factory.

It was already high time to return to the air strip, repair existing damage and have a well deserved breakfast – they could almost smell the sausages and hot coffee being served in the officers’ mess.

The remaining “Entente” pilots still managed to see the crew of the bomber crawling unharmed out of the airplane’s wreck, despite its violent crash.

The Huns will get what they deserve!” raged Ellwood while returning to friendly lines to find support for a rescue of his fallen comrades.

_____________________________________________________________

Several minutes had passed since the battle had started, and apparently the narrator had forgotten his job – he must have been quite busy…

2nd Lieutenant Gerald William Ferguson and 2nd Class Air Mechanic Fry, after being recovered in a dangerous and troubled mission of “search and rescue”, were already inside the new bomber, equipped with herculean willpower and an unwavering faith in their goal. Even after seeing their comrade Sous Lieutenant Charles Nungesser’s Nieuport 17 being shot down heartlessly and mercilessly, by the huns pilots, their resolve was steadfast.

Fry, that’s it mate!” shouted 2nd Lieutenant Ferguson to his observer, moments after shooting down the Oberleutnant Ernst Udet’s Albatros D.Va. But to Ferguson misery, the clash between the two airplanes that had happened minutes before was enough to distract him momentarily from his mission route. When he came to himself his target was passing by his left side!

Bullocks!  The target was so damn close and now I have to go around the world just to catch him again!”, ranted Ferguson while preparing to make a right turn.

Fry, do you see anyone in our tail? Fry, do you copy?” He looked back and saw that 2nd Class Air Mechanic Fry hung lifeless on the gun he had used to shoot down the German plane. Oberleutnant Udet while being shoot down managed to inflict mortal damage in the english bomber.

At the same time Leutnant Werner Voss at the controls of his Albatros D.Va, was struggling frantically to free himself from the pursuit of the Sopwith Camel, flown by Flight Sub-Lieutenant Ellwood.

Meanwhile Von Richthofen just finished to complete one of his risky maneuvers! The kind that made his name known among the other pilots! (Von Richthofen thought to himself – “geez! This game has very real maneuvers! One has to turn the cards face up to make sure that it is the correct maneuver!” – while picking a card that made him turn left when what he wanted was to turn right! – no comments!”).

Voss managed to free himself from Ellwood’s harassment. Life was smiling at him again!

God damn it! This animal has real nice moves!” Cursed Ellwood while coming across his comrades bomber that was in middle of the turn which will make them pass exactly above their target.

Von Richthofen finished the Immelmann maneuver which would intercept the 2nd Lieutenant Ferguson’s planed trajectory.

Ferguson goes full throttle, and puts to work all of the 150 horses from his bomber motor. “It’s now or never! This time I mean business, the goal is near”.

The baron achieved his intentions, a perfect positioning with clear view to shoot down the English plane, once again he would be denying success to the enemy pilots. He presses the trigger of his machineguns, but the result was very unsatisfactory, after all the noise coming from their spandau’s seamstresses, the english bomber remained unchanged in its will to complete the mission.

Voss albatros had concluded with success another Immelmann maneuver, and his position was perfect for shooting merciless Ferguson’s airplane. With the advantage of the speed gain with the maneuver and extracting all the power that the Merced’s motor if his airplane could give the distance between the two planes got shorter. The distance was the ideal for maximizing the damage that his machineguns could give. Voss shoot without mercy or pity against 2nd Lieutenant Ferguson bomber.

Von Richthofen, like a bird of prey, continuous stalking his prey, with the double objective of denying the success to the British mission and increasing his kill count.

Fergusson feels his bomber trembling, “hold on, the day will be ours!”. While Ellwood’s Sopwith Camel, was preparing to leave the field of battle with the feeling that their mission was almost complete and with success

Ferguson already cranky bomber did not resist another attack from the enemy airplanes and it literally died on the shore. Victory, once more, did not escape to the central powers forces. Although one of their airplanes had been shoot, the balance of the mission was positive. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED.

The German planes return to their base, with protruding feelings, the joy of the mission accomplished, but at the same time with the grief of a down comrade. The battle was pretty demanding, as you can see from the damage inflicted in the German side:

_____________________________________________________________

Ferguson climbs, from the wreckage of another bomber, this time with is comrade and friend Fry, between is arms, in the end he still breathed. “Fry they do not expect  for the delay! While exists British men with your fiber and resilience, those Huns won’t prevail!”.

“hum… that and sausages with cabbage” replied 2nd Class Air Mechanic Fry.

THE END.

Bolt Action first steps

This was my second game with the new rules of Bolt Action and this time we had the Fallschirmjager, against the Russians Ivans. Like the play lists proposes we started with a list of 1000 points for each side.

Fallschirmjager: 1 + 2 Men First Lieutenant (Vet) – 116 pts

1st squad – 1 +9 NCO men (vet) 2Lmg 2 Smg 2 Assault Rifles Pzfaust 1 – 191pts

2nd squad – 1 +9 NCO men (vet) 2Lmg 2 Smg 2 Assault Rifles Pzfaust 1 – 191pts

1 HMG Team (vet) – 65pts; 1 Sniper (vet) – 65pts 1Flamethrower (vet) – 65pts

1 Medium Mortar (vet) c / watcher – 75 Pts 1 StugIV (Reg) 230 pts

Soviet – 1 + 2 Men First Lieutenant (Reg) – 95, Medic 56 pts + 2 man, Forward Observer 100pts

1st Squad – 1Nco men +10 (reg) 1 LMG – 130 Pts

2nd Squad – 1Nco men +10 (reg) 11 Smg – 143 Pts

3rd Squad (free) 1Nco + 10 men, 1Smg, 1 LMG (Inexp) – 23 Pts

1Hmg – 75Pts, 1 Sniper (Vet) – 65 Pts, 1 Heavy Mortar – 75 Pts

1 T34/85 (Reg) – 235 Pts

For now the Russians take advantage of their extra free Squad appears and only pay for the equipment of the 3rd 11 men squad. So we begin with the 8 German activations and 10 for the Russians.

We have chosen to play the scenario 2 (Maximum Attrition) and both Generals chose outflank units, in the case of Germans a squad and the Flamethrower and the Russians chose the sniper and a Smg squad, the experienced and wise Russian general also opted to have the Forward Observer enter into reserve (2nd round).

Like the rules of this scenario say first we chose the side and them the units will be deploy into the 1st round as you go taking the activation markers.

The Germans led by the great general “Small” Hans von Freiburg chose to cede the left flank and put only the sniper there, concentrated their forces in the centre and at the right, the Russian general Pombalichenco curiously responded with the same tactic .

If these rules can be defined in one word it should be “fast”. Greater mobility and speed of play and the system activations allows a player to never get stuck having to wait for his turn. So the 1st turn is quick with only the units to go on the table and no exchange of fire.

At the second turn and with the Russian general trying to earn the nickname “Bat” of Vladivostock a squad of infantry on the right flank move and decides to stay in the line of fire of the German HMG causing the first casualties in Ivans. And the artillery observer enters the table where he c´ant observing nothing at all, born the myth of the Bat? The two tanks that are on the table will trying to play cat and mouse and they have a big successes in that kind of game.

With the start of the 3rd turn the outflank units arrived and after the tests required to enter all are able to go into battle. The Russians activate first and put the Smg squad on the right flank, try to shoot the German unit defending the right side, but again failed to see that the range of its Smg was short for such job, the commissioner of the NKVD begins thinking of going into action. The Germans decide to respond and the flamer come into action and contrary to what we expect, and with a move only able to the great generals ignore the arriving Russian unit and dump its load on the weak Russian unit that had suffered from the HMG fire, resulted in several deaths and 3 Pin markers, but behold, someone forgot to bring enough fuel and after a “glorious” 2 the flamer just finish is game here. Without hesitation after this “debacle” the General Little Hans advances the flank unit and at short range fire everything on the poor Smg Russians unit, only one Ivan stands up to ask what kind of storm fell upon him. On the left flank with the arrival of the Russian sniper is approaching an epic duel of snipers, “the enemy at gates” revised?

With the arrival of the 4th turn things looked good to Germans. Stug turns and shooting on the team of Russian HMG leaving only a bastard to tell friends what are the German Pz armor, and 2 squads of Russian infantry on the right side are swept the table. The Russian observer continues his glorious race to try to observe something and in the centre both armies try to occupy the best positions. But behold, after some executions NKVD men decide to put some sense in general Pombalichenco, and in an act of bravery the Russian sniper carries his opponent and kills a German sniper with knife blows and rifle butts, someone reports that the scope of his weapon became inoperable when used in a German observer eye. The T34/85 came into action and take advantage on the excitement of German Stug fires a shot that leave him with a principle of fire. Fortunately his experienced crew can put out the fire, but is inoperative to shoot this turn. Is the tide turning? Overconfidence German? Cried victory too soon?

Looks like it, on the 5th turn the Russian Artillery finally arrives and a violent bombardment fell on the German right flank destroying the flamer team and put some pin markers at the infantry unit which requires it to do Rally and losing a precious time. Meanwhile the heavy mortar with its crew accompanied by a political commissar firing a salvo and hit the infantry unit that occupied the centre and was pushing the Russian command, the result? 7 casualties and many pin markers, let the squad completely inoperable. But the commissioners did not reach everywhere and T34 failed resoundingly the opportunity to destroy the Stug, this duel is sure win by who take the first activation on the next turn, with a great chance to spread little Stug everywhere on the table.

After a turn so destructive German General order the Stug that shoot as fast as possible, and it responds ready, but the crew must have blinked they eyes because they can not go near the T34, every advantage vanished … and behold, the answer of T34 is? Another hit and another pin marker, but nothing happened… for now. However the German right flank predicting the worst desperately try to run closer to the T34 to make use of Pzfaust but new setback … The Russian sniper very pleased with its last charge fire on the mortar observer and kill him, the mortar is completely blind without an observer to spot the target. and at last Russian occupies the building of the German command in the village, little Hans cry in anger.

In the final round the Stug tries to activate and it make a morale test, Ok he need a 7 or less on 2D6 rolls and behold… a glorious 12 forcing him to roll at FUBAR table, in result they flee in panicked from the battlefront … Beautiful. Meanwhile the third Russian squad can eliminate the last German squad and despite being eliminated after clears the centre of the table. The T34 free of opposition shrapnel the another squad which leaves paras without infantry to continue the game. At the end the German commander flees the battlefield leaving the survivors abandoned to their bad luck … A fantastic Russian turnaround in a fantastic game. The counting points would be something like 6 for Ivans and 3 for the Germans.

Great game with very good rules and fortunately no weaknesses were noted. With only two tanks on the table was not very evident that the discrepancy in the army lists noted in the classification of tanks. Just a note to the mortars, when the shot misses the target should have an alternative to not hit the target, after all the shells do not disappear in a vacuum. (Urgent House rules). But in general the rules work very well and will let us continue to play more and in biggest scale. I have to try to take revenge on the Russians of General Farinhotievish.

Thanks to Paulo Pombal for being an excellent opponent, to Luís Pinto to be in service picking the activation markers and Master Pires to point the mortars problem, finally thanks to Manuel Pombeiro by being the war reporter’s with excellent photos only comparable to AP.
